    Late August is a good time to visit North Korea - you will enjoy the weather and have a chance to experience newly established Songun Day National holiday. “Songun” is North Korean "military first" policy, prioritizing the Korean People's Army in the affairs of state and allocation of resources. On this day there will be Mass Dance and many other special festivities. This tour offers a selection of most interesting sights in the DPRK, including Korean capital Pyongyang, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where North and South Korea have been facing off each other for more than half a century, and amazing Mt.Myohyang where you will see International Friendship Exhibition. Football fans will have a chance to visit Pyongyang football boarding school and meet future Korean champions.It is also expected that there will be one of its kind Pyongyang Taedonggang Beer Festival - Korean version of German Oktoberfest. During this event you can try locally brewed beer and take part in various contests.

    Aug 24 (Thu): Pyongyang

    Arrival in Pyongyang

    • Depart from Beijing by Air Koryo flight JS 252Y Beijing-Pyongyang at 14.05 from TERMINAL 2, Beijing Capital Airport . Arrive in Pyongyang at 16.40 local time
    • Transfer to Pyongyang
    • Take ride in Pyongyang Metro - one of the deepest subways in the world, it was designed to serve as a bomb shelter in case of war. The stations' interiors are stunning with superb lighting and mosaics. This is a great chance to interact with local people and explore several subway stations
    • Move to Arch of Triumph - built in 1982 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s role in resisting Japanese rule, it is the second tallest triumphal arch in the world. Each of its 25,500 blocks of finely-dressed white granite represents a day of his life up to that point
    • Check-in at the Pyongyang Koryo Hotel **** - one of the best Pyongyang hotels (first class and deluxe suits are also available at extra charge), it is located in Pyongyang downtown
    • Dinner at the hotel

    Aug 25 (Fri): Pyongyang

    Songun Day

    • Wake up early, have breakfast in the hotel and start this special day with a walk in Mansudae Fountain Park - composed of many beautifully designed in shape of dancing women fountains, this park is a place to enjoy jets of water reaching up to 80 meters
    • Visit majestic Mansudae Grand Monument - the huge bronze statues of the leaders standing in the center of the composition with two monuments titled "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle" and "Socialist Construction" on both sides. It was renovated in April 2012 following the passing away of the leader Kim Jong Il and a new statue of Kim Jong Il was added next to Kim Il Sung's
    • Behind the Mansudae Grand Monument don’t miss Chollima Monument - named after a mythical winged horse (Chollima in Korean literally means "thousand-mile horse"). In the period of reconstruction following the Korean War Cholima was the symbol inspiring workers to rebuild their nation at ‘Chollima Speed’
    • Visit one of the finest museums of the DPRK Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum - unveiled in 2013 by the leader Kim Jong Un after massive renovation this museum explains the origins of the Korean War (1950-53) between South and North. Here you will see the only US ship captured by a foreign country - the spy ship USS Pueblo, as well as American weapons and shot down planes. The museum features amazing displays and excellent dioramas
    • Future Science and Technology Complex - opened in 2016 it is a science center and library built in a shape of atom
    • Lunch
    • Head to Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s central square where Korea’s massive military parades normally take place. Opened in August Juche 43 (1954) it is the 30th largest square in the world
    • Take a short walk to Pyongyang Foreign Language Book Shop - the popular shop where you can buy propaganda posters, books and other souvenirs
    • Pyongyang Embroidery Institute - this is where most Korean embroideries are made. It is named after Kim Jong Suk, mother of the leader Kim Jong Il. It is a great opportunity to buy hand made embroidery at very reasonable price
    • Mass Dance - one of the most well known images of North Korea: students of local universities get on the main city's squares and dance dressed in traditional Korean suit
    • Take part in various festivities which will be held on this day
    • Dinner
    • Visit famous Kaeson Youth Funfair - one of the most popular amusement parks and nightspots in Pyongyang, it was recently renovated. This is a great place to observe local people and take pictures with them

    Aug 26 (Sat): Pyongyang Mt.Myohyang Pyongyang

    • Breakfast
    • Drive to Mt.Myohyang - the Mountain of Mysterious Fragrance, one of the five celebrated mountains of Korea. It is a sacred site as, according to legend, it was the home of King Tangun, forefather of the Korean people. In 2009 UNESCO designated Mount Myohyang a world biosphere reserve
    • Visit grandiose International Friendship Exhibition - the world's biggest treasure-house. On exhibit are gifts received by DPRK's leaders over the years. One building stores the presents given to President Kim Il Sung, while a smaller one holds those given to Leader Kim Jong Il
    • After impressive exhibition visit Pohyon temple - one of the five famous Buddhist temples of Korea, it was built nearly 1,000 years ago
    • Lunch
    • Walk in Manphok valley - "Manphok" means in Korean "valley of ten thousands falls". Enjoy beautiful hermitages, rocks, caves, falls, and pavilions
    • Drive back to Pyongyang
    • Dinner in one of the Pyongyang’s restaurants
    • Walk in Mirae (Future) Street - it is opened in 2015 street featuring futuristic looking buildings. Korean government allocated residential buildings at this street to teachers of local universities

    Aug 27 (Sun): Pyongyang Kaesong

    • Wake up early and enjoy breakfast in the hotel
    • Experience incredible Kumsusan Palace of Sun - Mausoleum of president Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il. To visit the Mausoleum tourists should follow a strict dress code: no shorts, T-shirts and sandals, no blue jeans and mini-skirts
    • Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery - a cemetery and memorial to the North Korean soldiers fighting for freedom and independence against Japanese rule
    • Stop by Monument to Workers' Party of Korea - opened in Juche 84 (1995) the monument depicts the hammer, sickle and brush seized by a worker, a farmer and an intellectual. The round belt means the single-hearted unity of the leader, Party and people
    • Walk to Juche Tower - at 150m it is the highest stone monument in the world. Take elevator to the top of the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of Pyongyang (optional, 5 Euro p/p)
    • Lunch
    • NEW! Visit Pyongyang Zoo - the national zoo of the DPRK. It has over 5,000 wild animals. At the zoo there is the gift animal house in which are kept the animals presented to the leader Kim Jong Il by Jonas Wahlström, the director of the Skansen Zoological Garden in Sweden
    • NEW! Shop in Kwangbok Supermarket - located at one of the biggest city's street it is a popular mall where visitors can exchange money into local Won in order to shop
    • Drive to Kaesong - capital of Korea up to the 15th century. Kaesong is the only city in Korea which has preserved its original historical make up as it hasn't been destroyed during the Korean war. It is a home for 12 historic sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kaesong is considered to be home of Koryo insam (ginseng) and so be prepared to buy some of the best insam in the Far East
    • Check in Minsok Folk Hotel ** - a cosy hotel located in the old center of Kaesong. It consists of 20 traditional Korean houses all off a courtyard, and featuring a charming stream running through it. It’s fascinating and far more atmospheric than anywhere else you’ll stay in the country
    • Dinner at a traditional Korean restaurant - enjoy dinner sitting on the floor in Korean way

    Aug 28 (Mon): Kaesong Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Pyongyang Kaesong Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Walk through one of the Kaesong Traditional Folk Streets
    • Janamsan Park - located on a hill overlooking the city it is a great place to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the old Kaesong
    • Sonjuk Bridge - a small stone bridge dating back to 1216, UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • Drive to Tomb of King Kongmin - UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the original mausoleum of the 31st king of the Koryo Dynasty - King Kongmin and his Queen dated back to 14th century
    • Move to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) - a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea, it is one of the most militarized area on our planet
    • Panmunjom - a village where in 1953 Armistice Talks were held between the DPR Korea and the United Nation Command. Visit the blue tent-like building located exactly on the borderline between Koreas. You can walk around the conference room and hop from South to North Korea while you are in this building. This is one of the few places where you can take pictures of the DPRK military
    • On the way back to Pyongyang have lunch at Tongil restaurant - "Tongil" means "Reunification" in Korean, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Kaesong where you can experience royal meal with multiple side-dishes. For anyone wanting to supplement their lunch, there will be an opportunity to sample Korea’s famous ginseng chicken soup (at extra charge)
    • Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification - the monument representing desire of Korean people for reunification. It is shaped in form of two Korean women holding Korean peninsula over the Thongil highway from Pyongyang to DMZ
    • Pyongyang Football School - this is a boarding school for talented children who will become future players of Korean National Football Team. You will have a chance to see how future champions live, and at the end of your visit you can play a match with young players
    • Enjoy dinner in famous BBQ Duck Restaurant
    • Expected Taedonggang Beer Festival - this is Korean version of German Oktoberfest beer festival. It was organized first time in 2016 in Pyongyang and since then it is said it will be an annual event in Pyongyang. The festival is held at Pyongyang downtown at Taedong river embankment near Kim Il Sung Square, and it is very popular with locals. The festival is a great opportunity to try many different types of Korean most popular beer Taedonggang. You will have a chance to take part in various contests and socialize with friendly Koreans. Entrance fee (about 2 Euro) and beer are at your own expense

    • After breakfast in the hotel transfer to the airport and depart by Air Koryo flight JS 151 Pyongyang-Beijing at 8.30 in the morning from Pyongyang Airport . Arrive in Beijing at 09.55 in the morning (local time)
