    TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:

    Late August is a good time to visit North Korea - you will enjoy the weather and have a chance to experience newly established Songun Day National holiday. “Songun” is North Korean "military first" policy, prioritizing the Korean People's Army in the affairs of state and allocation of resources. On this day there will be Mass Dance and many other special festivities. You will also witness celebrations of the Youth Day on the occasion of which there will be held various sport and cultural festivities. This tour offers a selection of most interesting sights in the DPRK, including Korean capital Pyongyang, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where North and South Korea have been facing off each other for more than half a century, and amazing Mt.Myohyang where you will see International Friendship Exhibition. Football fans will have a chance to visit Pyongyang football boarding school and meet future Korean champions.It is also expected that there will be one of its kind Pyongyang Taedonggang Beer Festival - Korean version of German Oktoberfest. During this event you can try locally brewed beer and take part in various contests.

    Aug 24 (Fri): Pyongyang

    Arrival in Pyongyang

    • Depart from Beijing by Air Koryo flight JS 152 Beijing-Pyongyang at 12.00 (noon) from TERMINAL 2, Beijing Capital Airport. Arrive in Pyongyang at 14.30 local time
    • Transfer to Pyongyang
    • Pyongyang Metro - one of the deepest subways in the world, it was designed to serve as a bomb shelter in case of war. The stations' interiors are stunning with superb lighting and mosaics. This is a great chance to interact with local people and explore several subway stations
    • Arch of Triumph - built in 1982 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s role in resisting Japanese rule, it is the second tallest triumphal arch in the world. Each of its 25,500 blocks of finely-dressed white granite represents a day of his life up to that point
    • Check-in at the Pyongyang Koryo Hotel **** - one of the best Pyongyang hotels (first class and deluxe suits are also available at extra charge), it is located in Pyongyang downtown
    • Dinner at the hotel

    Aug 25 (Sat): Pyongyang

    Songun Day

    • Wake up early, have breakfast in the hotel and start this special day with a walk in Mansudae Fountain Park - composed of many beautifully designed in shape of dancing women fountains, this park is a place to enjoy jets of water reaching up to 80 meters
    • Mansudae Grand Monument - the huge bronze statues of the leaders standing in the center of the composition with two monuments titled "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle" and "Socialist Construction" on both sides. It was renovated in April 2012 following the passing away of the leader Kim Jong Il and a new statue of Kim Jong Il was added next to Kim Il Sung's
    • Chollima Monument - named after a mythical winged horse (Chollima in Korean literally means "thousand-mile horse"). In the period of reconstruction following the Korean War Cholima was the symbol inspiring workers to rebuild their nation at ‘Chollima Speed’
    • NEW! Jonsong Revolutionary Site - a system of tunnels used as a wartime HQ by Korea People's Army. Here we will see the preserved rooms where soldiers and officers slept, lived and had meetings
    • Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum - unveiled in 2013 by the leader Kim Jong Un after massive renovation this museum explains the origins of the Korean War (1950-53) between South and North. Here you will see the only US ship captured by a foreign country - the spy ship USS Pueblo, as well as American weapons and shot down planes. The museum features amazing displays and excellent dioramas
    • Lunch
    • Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s central square where Korea’s massive military parades normally take place. Opened in August Juche 43 (1954) it is the 30th largest square in the world
    • Pyongyang Foreign Language Book Shop - the popular shop where you can buy propaganda posters, books and other souvenirs
    • Pyongyang Embroidery Institute - this is where most Korean embroideries are made. It is named after Kim Jong Suk, mother of the leader Kim Jong Il. It is a great opportunity to buy hand made embroidery at very reasonable price
    • Mass Dance - one of the most well known images of North Korea: students of local universities get on the main city's squares and dance dressed in traditional Korean suit
    • Take part in various festivities which will be held on this day
    • Dinner
    • Expected Taedonggang Beer Festival - this is Korean version of German Oktoberfest beer festival. It was organized first time in 2016 in Pyongyang and since then it is said it will be an annual event in Pyongyang. The festival is held at Pyongyang downtown at Taedong river embankment near Kim Il Sung Square, and it is very popular with locals. The festival is a great opportunity to try many different types of Korean most popular beer Taedonggang. You will have a chance to take part in various contests and socialize with friendly Koreans. Entrance fee (about 2 Euro) and beer are at your own expense

    Aug 26 (Sun): Pyongyang Kaesong

    • Wake up early and enjoy breakfast in the hotel
    • Experience incredible Kumsusan Palace of Sun - Mausoleum of president Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il. To visit the Mausoleum tourists should follow a strict dress code: no shorts, T-shirts and sandals, no blue jeans and mini-skirts
    • Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery - a cemetery and memorial to the North Korean soldiers fighting for freedom and independence against Japanese rule
    • Monument to Workers' Party of Korea - opened in Juche 84 (1995) the monument depicts the hammer, sickle and brush seized by a worker, a farmer and an intellectual. The round belt means the single-hearted unity of the leader, Party and people
    • Juche Tower - at 150m it is the highest stone monument in the world. Take elevator to the top of the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of Pyongyang (optional, 5 Euro p/p)
    • Lunch
    • NEW! Pyongyang Zoo - the national zoo of the DPRK. It has over 5,000 wild animals. At the zoo there is the gift animal house in which are kept the animals presented to the leader Kim Jong Il by Jonas Wahlström, the director of the Skansen Zoological Garden in Sweden
    • Kwangbok Supermarket - located at one of the biggest city's street it is a popular mall where visitors can exchange money into local Won in order to shop
    • Drive to Kaesong - capital of Korea up to the 15th century. Kaesong is the only city in Korea which has preserved its original historical make up as it hasn't been destroyed during the Korean war. It is a home for 12 historic sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kaesong is considered to be home of Koryo insam (ginseng) and so be prepared to buy some of the best insam in the Far East
    • Check in Minsok Folk Hotel ** - a cosy hotel located in the old center of Kaesong. It consists of 20 traditional Korean houses all off a courtyard, and featuring a charming stream running through it. It’s fascinating and far more atmospheric than anywhere else you’ll stay in the country
    • Dinner at a traditional Korean restaurant - enjoy dinner sitting on the floor in Korean way

    OVERNIGHT: Minsok Folk Hotel **
    Aug 27 (Mon): Kaesong Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Kaesong Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Walk through one of the Kaesong Traditional Folk Streets
    • Janamsan Park - located on a hill overlooking the city it is a great place to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the old Kaesong
    • Sonjuk Bridge - a small stone bridge dating back to 1216, UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • Drive to Tomb of King Kongmin - UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the original mausoleum of the 31st king of the Koryo Dynasty - King Kongmin and his Queen dated back to 14th century
    • Move to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) - a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea, it is one of the most militarized area on our planet
    • Panmunjom - a village where in 1953 Armistice Talks were held between the DPR Korea and the United Nation Command. Visit the blue tent-like building located exactly on the borderline between Koreas. You can walk around the conference room and hop from South to North Korea while you are in this building. This is one of the few places where you can take pictures of the DPRK military
    • Lunch at Tongil restaurant - "Tongil" means "Reunification" in Korean, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Kaesong where you will enjoy Traditional Royal Korean Lunch with 12 side-dishes served in brass bowls fit for the kings. For anyone wanting to supplement their lunch, there will be an opportunity to sample Korea’s famous ginseng chicken soup (at extra charge)
    • Drive back to Pyongyang
    • Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification - the monument representing desire of Korean people for reunification. It is shaped in form of two Korean women holding Korean peninsula over the Thongil highway from Pyongyang to DMZ
    • Pyongyang Football School - this is a boarding school for talented children who will become future players of Korean National Football Team. You will have a chance to see how future champions live, and at the end of your visit you can play a match with young players
    • Enjoy dinner in famous BBQ Duck Restaurant

    Aug 28 (Tue): Pyongyang Mt.Myohyang

    Youth Day

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Moranbong Park - a recreation area where locals have picnics and sing songs during weekends. It is a unique opportunity to socialize with local people
    • Grand People’s Study House - located at the Kim Il Sung Square it is one of the most famous buildings in Pyongyang. It was built in a traditional Korean style over a period of 21 months and opened in April of 1982 to honor Kim Il Sung’s 70th birthday
    • Future Science and Technology Complex - opened in 2016 it is a science center and library built in a shape of atom
    • Lunch
    • The Rungna People's Pleasure Ground - opened in 2012 it is an amusement park. It has a dolphinarium, swimming pool, and a mini golf course. Entrance fee is about 5 Euro payable at spot
    • Drive to Mt.Myohyang - the Mountain of Mysterious Fragrance, one of the five celebrated mountains of Korea. It is a sacred site as, according to legend, it was the home of King Tangun, forefather of the Korean people. In 2009 UNESCO designated Mount Myohyang a world biosphere reserve
    • Check in Chongchon Hotel ** - located on the bank of the river Chongchon in Hyangsan county, it is simple hotel with hot water available in mornings and evenings

    Aug 29 (Wed): Mt.Myohyang Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • International Friendship Exhibition - the world's biggest treasure-house. On exhibit are gifts received by DPRK's leaders over the years. One building stores the presents given to President Kim Il Sung, while a smaller one holds those given to Leader Kim Jong Il
    • Pohyon temple - one of the five famous Buddhist temples of Korea, it was built nearly 1,000 years ago
    • Manphok valley - "Manphok" means in Korean "valley of ten thousands falls". Enjoy beautiful hermitages, rocks, caves, falls, and pavilions
    • Enjoy your lunch
    • Ryongmun Caves - a stunning series of grottoes and subterranean caves formed 480 million years ago by limestone erosion. Its average temperature is 11C and humidity 80
    • Drive back to Pyongyang
    • Dinner
    • Mirae (Future) Street - it is opened in 2015 street featuring futuristic looking buildings. Korean government allocated residential buildings at this street to teachers of local universities
    • Mansugyo Beer Bar - a new beer bar in Pyongyang where you can try all types of famous Taedonggang beer including black beer with chocolate and coffee flavour. Great opportunity to meet locals

    OVERNIGHT: Pyongyang Koryo Hotel ****
    Aug 30 (Thu):

    • After breakfast in the hotel transfer to the airport and depart by Air Koryo flight JS 251Y Pyongyang-Beijing at 10.00 in the morning from Pyongyang Airport. Arrive in Beijing at 11.30 in the morning (local time)
