The 109th birthday of the eternal President Kim Il Sung will be widely celebrated in the DPRK on April 15. This day is also called “Day of the Sun”. Enjoy an extensive sightseeing program in Pyongyang with all major landmarks.
On the Day of the Sun we will have a chance to join in the colorful Mass Dance and visit unique Flower exhibition dedicated to flowers named after the Korean leaders.
We will travel to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) at the border with South Korea to witness the tragedy of the Korean nation, separated since 1953 by a 4 km wide strip of land cutting Korean Peninsula in half. In the DMZ’s vicinity we will visit Kaesong, the ancient capital of Korea and the only city in the DPRK which preserved its original historical make up as it wasn’t destroyed during the Korean War. In Kaesong we will stay in the atmospheric Minsok Folk Hotel - a cosy traditional style hotel located in the historical city center. On the way back to the capital we will pass by Sariwon where we will walk on Folk Custom Street and visit a cooperative farm.
On this tour you will have an optional opportunity to take the PYONGYANG AIR CITY TOUR - a 40 minute trip in the skies aboard an Air Koryo Mi-17 helicopter. You will have an unrivalled bird's-eye view of Pyongyang from the sky and a lot of great photo opportunities. If you would like to add this option to your itinerary please inform us when you book your tour.
