    Highlights

    • Lake Baikal - It is the largest freshwater lake by volume in the world, containing roughly 20% of the world's unfrozen surface fresh water, the world's deepest lake, one of the world's clearest and is the world's oldest lake.
    • Irkutsk - "Siberian Paris", one of the oldest Russian cities in Siberia, the de facto capital of Eastern Siberia, pleasantly historic Irkutsk is by far the most popular stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway between Moscow and all points east. With Lake Baikal a mere 70km away, the city is the best base from which to strike out for the western shoreline
    • Harbin - capital of China's Heilongjiang province, in Jan-Feb Harbin is the home of International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival - a major attraction during the winter, one of the biggest and popular ice shows in Asia

    ITINERARY

    Day 1 (Fri): China / Beijing

    BEGINNING OF YOUR TOUR

    • In the evening departure from Beijing Railway Station to Harbin
    • You can ask Korea Konsult to arrange your tour in Beijing, or other parts of China, North Korea, Mongolia, South Korea or Japan

    OVERNIGHT: on the train
    Day 2 (Sat): China / Harbin

    Harbin

    • Arrival in Harbin in the morning
    • Visit temple of Bliss - large active Buddhist temple with many gigantic statues, including Milefo (Maitreya, the Buddha yet-to-come) and the Sakyamuni Buddha. The Seven-Tiered Buddhist Pagoda dates from 1924.
    • Dàolǐqū District - the most obvious legacy of Russia's involvement with Harbin, now a pedestrian-only zone, the street, and those nearby, are lined with buildings that date back to the early 20th century.
    • Japanese Germ Warfare Experimental Base - a museum set in the notorious Japanese Germ Warfare Experimental Base (Division 731). Between 1939 and 1945, prisoners of war and civilians were frozen alive, subjected to vivisection or infected with bubonic plague, syphilis and other virulent diseases. Three to four thousand people died here in the most gruesome fashion. The museum includes photos, sculptures and exhibits of the equipment used by the Japanese.
    • Harbin Confucius Temple - peaceful temple complex first built in 1929 and is said to be the largest Confucian temple in northeastern China. The site also houses the fascinating Minority Cultures Museum replete with photos and artefacts focusing on indigenous tribes such as the Ewenki. You need a passport to enter
    • In 2018 Jan 5 - Feb 28: In the evening you may want to go to visit the Ice and Snow World. Located on the north bank of the Songhua River, the Ice and Snow Amusement World is a major attraction of Harbin Interactional Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival dunging the winter. There are full of awesome ice and snow sculptures created by artists from all around world. Kind note that please wear enough layers of proper clothes and warm shoes to keep you away form the freeze especially when you want to stay there longer to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

    OVERNIGHT: Hotel
    Day 3-4 (Sun-Mon): China / Harbin, Russia/Zabaikalsk, Chita, Ulan-Ude
    • Visit Church of St Sophia - the red-brick Russian Orthodox Church built in 1907.
    • Move to the railway station and depart to Irkutsk at 15.44 on Sunday
    • On Monday at 4.17 the train arrives in Manzhouli (Chinese-Russian border), and arrives in Zabaikalsk (Russia) at 8.26
    • Russia and China use different size of track gauge and thus at the border in Zabaikalsk there will be a long stop (about 6 hours) in order to change bogie/trucks (a chassis or framework carrying wheels, attached to a carriage). You will have enough time to do shopping in Russian shops near the railway station, and explore the area
    • Zabaikalsk - a Russian city at the border with China, from the railway station you can see "gate to China", a massive arch over the rail-road track; a traditional Lenin monument, WWII memorial, etc.
    • Pass Chita and Ulan-Ude in Russia on the way to Irkutsk

    Day 5 (Tue): Russia/Irkutsk

    • Arrival in Irkutsk in the evening
    • Check in the hotel
    • Free time

    Day 6 (Wed): Russia/Irkutsk

    Lake Baikal

    • Transfer to Baikal Lake. En route: visit open-air ethnographical museum of wooden architecture "Taltsy" (comprehensive exhibition of Siberian-style folk houses of the former centuries)
    • Visit Listvyanka village and try famous Baikal fish Omul at a restaurant situated at Baikal's shore
    • Experience the lake's landscape and culture: get acquaintaned with Shaman-rock legend, visit ancient wooden orthodox church of St.Nicholas (who is believed to be the patron of fishermen and sailors), ride a funicular to Chersky peak observatory to enjoy picturesque view of the lake
    • Stop by local fish & souvenir markets to choose a gift for your family and friends
    • In the evening check-in at Nikolay private hotel-house in Listvyanka. Free time

    OVERNIGHT: Nikolay private hotel-house in Listvyanka
    Day 7 (Thu): Russia/Irkutsk

    • Transfer to Irkutsk
    • City tour: Irkutsk foundation place, the Eternal flame memorial, most important churches (including Znamensky cathedral ), Kirov square and several memorials dedicated to events in Siberian history, Irkutsk Linguistics University, and City administration. Put your feet at the crossing of Lenin and Karl-Marx streets (two main streets) in the center of the city, stroll along Gagarin boulevard, popular with locals as a dating spot. Overview the monument to tsar Alexander III overlooking one of the mightiest Siberian rivers Angara, and visit unique lore museum surrounded by centries-old buildings that keep the charm of Irkutsk
    • Lunch at the local restaurant and then enjoy your free time in Irkutsk
    • In the late afternoon move to the Railway Station and depart to Moscow

    OVERNIGHT: on the train
    Day 8-10 (Fri-Sun): Russia / Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk

    • Enjoy landscape scenery from the train

    Day 11 (Mon): Russia/Moscow

    • Arrival in Moscow in the morning
    • This is the end of the tour
