July 27 marks the 72nd Anniversary of the Armistice Agreement in the Korean War (1950-1953). The agreement established a ceasefire and created the Korean Demilitarized Zone, a buffer zone separating the two Koreas. While it ended the active fighting, it did not lead to a formal peace treaty, meaning that the Korean War technically remains ongoing.
In the DPRK, it is a profoundly significant national holiday officially known as 'The Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War.' The day is celebrated with grand festivities, including a spectacular Mass Dance in one of Pyongyang's main squares.
This tour offers an opportunity to explore the impressive DPRK capital, Pyongyang, and its prominent landmarks within a remarkably short time frame.
We will journey to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a heavily fortified strip of land that has served as a tragic symbol of the division of the Korean nation since 1953.
You'll also have the chance to visit Kaesong, the ancient capital of Korea, which remains one of the few DPRK cities untouched by the Korean War.
